Description
A creamy, comforting dish featuring garlic, Parmesan, and orzo that’s quick and easy to prepare, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup orzo (regular or whole wheat)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant.
- Add 1 cup of orzo to the skillet and stir to coat in the butter and garlic. Toast for 2-3 minutes until slightly golden.
- Slowly pour in 2 cups of chicken broth, stirring occasionally. Bring to a simmer and let the orzo cook for about 7-10 minutes, or until tender.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Let it simmer gently for 3-4 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
- Stir in 1/2 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and incorporated.
- Taste and adjust with salt and pepper as needed.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
[‘Toast the orzo in butter for a nutty flavor and to prevent clumping.’, ‘Use freshly grated Parmesan for better melting and flavor.’, ‘Adjust the sauce consistency by adding more broth or cream if too thick, or simmering longer if too thin.’]
