Description
A quick and easy fudge recipe that combines the nostalgic flavor of root beer floats with rich, creamy chocolate fudge. Perfect for gatherings and a unique twist on classic fudge.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (240 ml) root beer, preferably a classic brand
- 2 cups (340 g) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 oz / 396 g) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup (57 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- Optional toppings: crushed vanilla wafer cookies or mini marshmallows
Instructions
- Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil, leaving some overhang for easy fudge removal. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, pour 1 cup (240 ml) of root beer. Heat gently over medium heat until it reduces by about half, around 10-12 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
- Remove the pan from heat. Immediately add 2 cups (340 g) semisweet chocolate chips and 1/4 cup (57 g) softened unsalted butter. Stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
- Stir in 1 can (14 oz / 396 g) sweetened condensed milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly until fully combined.
- Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Sprinkle optional toppings if desired. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until firm. Let fudge sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Reduce root beer slowly to avoid burning and achieve the best flavor concentration. Use good quality chocolate for best texture and flavor. Chill fudge adequately before cutting to prevent stickiness. Let fudge rest at room temperature for 5 minutes before serving for a melt-in-your-mouth texture. For vegan or dairy-free versions, substitute dairy ingredients accordingly.
