A quick and easy pasta dish with a creamy tomato garlic sauce that’s perfect for busy weeknights or cozy weekend meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces pasta (penne or fettuccine)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes or tomato purée
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water before draining.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Lower the heat and pour in heavy cream. Stir until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Add reserved pasta water if the sauce is too thick.
- Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Add more pasta water if needed.
- Sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped basil. Toss everything together and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan and basil if desired.
