Description
A quick and easy air fryer grilled cheese sandwich with crispy golden edges and melty cheese, perfect for a satisfying snack in just 5 minutes.

- 2 slices of sandwich bread (white, sourdough, whole wheat, or gluten-free)
- 2–3 slices or 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon softened butter (unsalted or salted)
- Optional: pinch of garlic powder or smoked paprika
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (188°C) and let it warm up for 3 minutes.
- Spread about 1/2 tablespoon of softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
- Place the cheese slices on the unbuttered side of one bread slice. Sprinkle garlic powder or smoked paprika if desired.
- Top with the second slice, buttered side facing out.
- Place the sandwich flat in the air fryer basket without stacking or folding.
- Cook for 4-5 minutes, flipping halfway through at around 2 minutes for even browning.
- Remove the sandwich and let it rest for 1 minute before slicing.
- Slice diagonally and serve warm.
Notes
Butter the outside of the bread well for a crispy golden finish. Flip the sandwich halfway through cooking for even browning. If cheese isn’t melting enough, add a 30-second burst at 400°F after cooking. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Rest sandwich 1 minute before slicing to prevent cheese from oozing.
