Description
These crispy baked dumplings feature a golden, juicy filling paired with a spicy sauce for a delightful combination of heat and umami. Perfect for any occasion, they’re easy to make and restaurant-quality.
Ingredients
- 1 package of dumpling wrappers (round, store-bought works perfectly)
- 1 cup ground chicken or pork (or substitute with tofu for a vegetarian option)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/4 cup grated carrots
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing the wrappers)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon chili paste or Sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon honey (or brown sugar)
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- 1 green onion, thinly sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken/pork, cabbage, carrots, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. Mix until evenly combined.
- Lay out the dumpling wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper. Brush the edges with beaten egg, fold the wrapper in half, and pinch to seal. Pleat the edges for a decorative touch if desired.
- Place the dumplings on the parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they don’t touch each other.
- Use a pastry brush to lightly coat each dumpling with oil to ensure they crisp up beautifully in the oven.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the dumplings are golden brown and crispy.
- While the dumplings bake, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, honey, and sesame seeds in a small bowl. Adjust the heat level to your preference.
- Arrange the crispy dumplings on a platter and drizzle with the spicy sauce or serve the sauce on the side for dipping. Garnish with sliced green onions.
