Description
A rich, velvety chocolate fondue perfect for romantic evenings, made with a blend of dark and semi-sweet chocolate melted with cream for a silky smooth texture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ounces (115 g) high-quality dark chocolate, chopped
- 2 ounces (55 g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream (can substitute with coconut cream for dairy-free)
- 1 tablespoon (14 g) unsalted butter, softened
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Dippers (choose your favorites): fresh strawberries, banana slices, marshmallows, chunks of pound cake or angel food cake, apple slices, pretzel sticks, dried apricots or figs
Instructions
- Finely chop 4 ounces of dark chocolate and 2 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate.
- Pour ½ cup heavy cream into a double boiler or heatproof bowl set over simmering water and warm until hot but not boiling.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon softened unsalted butter and a pinch of salt into the hot cream.
- Slowly add the chopped chocolate to the hot cream mixture, stirring continuously until fully melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and mix in ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Pour the melted chocolate into a fondue pot or serving bowl and keep warm with a tea light or low heat.
- Arrange chosen dippers on a platter.
- Serve with fondue forks or skewers and enjoy.
Notes
Use gentle heat to avoid burning chocolate. Chop chocolate finely for even melting. Keep fondue warm but not hot enough to burn fingers. For dairy-free, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and use dairy-free chocolate. If chocolate seizes, warm gently and stir in more cream.
