Easy Balsamic Glazed Chicken Breast Recipe Perfect One Pan Dinner

  • Author: Lena
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy one-pan balsamic glazed chicken breast recipe that delivers a tangy, sweet, and sticky glaze, perfect for busy weeknights and minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 to 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar (60 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth (60 ml)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary) for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering but not smoking (about 2 minutes).
  3. Add chicken breasts to the pan and cook undisturbed for 5-6 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and releases easily from the pan.
  4. Flip chicken and cook the other side for another 4-5 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour in balsamic vinegar, honey, Dijon mustard, and chicken broth. Stir gently, scraping up browned bits.
  7. Simmer the sauce for 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.
  8. If chicken is not fully cooked (internal temp 165°F/74°C), reduce heat to low, cover, and cook an additional 5 minutes or transfer to a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 7-10 minutes if using an oven-safe skillet.
  9. Remove chicken from heat and let rest for 5 minutes. Spoon extra glaze over the top and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Do not crowd the pan to ensure proper browning. Pat chicken dry before searing for a golden crust. Simmer glaze gently to avoid burning. Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F (74°C). Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days and reheated gently. Freezing is possible but may alter glaze texture.
