Description
Soft, buttery cheesy garlic knots made with pizza dough, perfect for a quick and comforting snack or appetizer. These knots are easy to make and packed with garlicky, cheesy goodness.
Ingredients
- 1 (16-ounce) ball pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook gently for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Remove from heat and stir in parsley, salt, and optional red pepper flakes. Set aside to cool slightly.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12×8-inch rectangle. Cut the dough into 12 strips about 1 inch wide.
- Tie each strip into a loose knot and place on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each knot.
- Brush each knot generously with half of the garlic butter mixture.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the knots, pressing lightly so the cheese sticks.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until knots are golden brown and cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. Watch closely after 15 minutes to avoid burning.
- Immediately brush the knots with the remaining garlic butter after removing from the oven.
- Let cool for a couple of minutes and serve warm.
Notes
If dough feels sticky while shaping, lightly flour your hands but avoid over-flouring to prevent dry knots. For extra crust, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end but watch closely. Use a pastry brush or spoon/fingers to apply garlic butter. Store knots in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat in oven for best texture.
