Easy Crispy Crescent Roll Apple Pie Bites

  • Author: neuriox
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 12 bites (about 4 servings) 1x

Description

A quick and comforting dessert featuring flaky crescent roll dough wrapped around tender, cinnamon-spiced apples. Perfect for a cozy treat or last-minute dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz / 226 g) crescent roll dough
  • 2 medium apples (about 300 g), peeled, cored, and finely chopped (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
  • 2 tbsp (28 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp (25 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp (2 g) ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp (12 g) brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) vanilla extract (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine finely chopped apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract if using. Toss until apples are evenly coated.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface. Press the perforations firmly to seal and create one large rectangle.
  4. Spoon the apple mixture evenly over the dough, leaving about a half-inch border around the edges.
  5. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough up like a jelly roll. Slice into 12 equal bite-sized pieces, about 1 inch thick. Arrange cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about an inch apart.
  6. Brush each piece generously with melted butter.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is puffed and golden brown. Check after 12 minutes to avoid burning.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.

Notes

If apples are too juicy, toss with 1 tsp cornstarch before mixing with sugars to prevent soggy filling. Press crescent roll seams firmly to avoid filling leaks. Brush butter generously for a golden, crispy crust. Check baking at 12 minutes to prevent burning. Can be made vegan by using vegan crescent dough and butter substitutes. Gluten-free crescent dough options are available for gluten-free adaptations.
