  • 6 cups (about 150 g) Rice Krispies cereal
  • 10 standard-sized Peeps marshmallow chicks or bunnies (about 150 g)
  • 3 tablespoons (45 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • Non-stick spray or butter for greasing the pan

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking pan with non-stick spray or butter and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons (45 g) of unsalted butter, about 2-3 minutes, keeping heat low to avoid browning.
  3. Add 10 Peeps marshmallows (about 150 g) to the melted butter and stir gently but continuously with a wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula to melt evenly, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract once the Peeps are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add 6 cups (150 g) of Rice Krispies cereal. Stir quickly but gently to coat the cereal evenly without crushing it.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and gently press evenly using a buttered spatula or wax paper, applying light pressure to keep treats fluffy.
  7. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes until firm. Optionally, refrigerate to speed up setting.
  8. Cut into squares or fun shapes with a sharp knife and serve immediately or store for later.

Notes

Melt Peeps slowly over low heat to keep treats fluffy. Use fresh Peeps for best melting results. Add a splash of milk (1 tablespoon) if Peeps are stubborn melting. Press treats lightly to maintain fluffiness. Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
