Description
These Easy Tangy BBQ Sausage Bites are a quick and flavorful snack made with just four simple ingredients, perfect for last-minute gatherings or casual snacking.
Ingredients
- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced into bite-sized pieces (kielbasa or andouille preferred)
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (about 120 ml), your favorite brand
- 2 tablespoons honey (about 30 ml)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (about 15 ml)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If using an air fryer, set it to 390°F (199°C).
- Slice the smoked sausage into 1/2 inch thick bite-sized rounds.
- In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup BBQ sauce, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. Stir until smooth.
- Add the sausage slices to the bowl and toss until every piece is coated with the sauce.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the sausage bites in a single layer with space between pieces.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping the sausage pieces halfway through to brown evenly. Watch closely during the last 5 minutes to avoid burning.
- Remove from oven and let the bites rest for 5 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Serve warm. Reheat gently if needed.
Notes
Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure caramelization instead of steaming. Use thick-cut sausage slices for juiciness. Flip halfway through baking for even browning. Watch the oven closely near the end to prevent burning. Optional: add smoked paprika or cayenne for heat, or substitute honey with maple syrup for a smoky-sweet flavor. Sauce can be loosened with a splash of water or vinegar if too thick.
