Fresh Red White Blue Fruit Skewers Recipe Easy No Sugar Snack

  • Author: Lena
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 skewers 1x

Description

A quick, colorful, and healthy no sugar snack featuring fresh strawberries, blueberries, and honeydew melon threaded on skewers. Perfect for summer gatherings or a light, festive snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Fresh strawberries, hulled, medium-sized
  • Fresh blueberries, washed
  • Honeydew melon, peeled, seeded, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 6-inch wooden or bamboo skewers
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep your fruit: rinse strawberries and blueberries under cold water. Hull the strawberries by removing the green tops, then cut them into halves or quarters depending on size to match the melon cubes.
  2. Peel the honeydew melon, remove seeds, and cut into roughly 1-inch cubes.
  3. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 10-15 minutes to prevent burning or splitting. Pat dry before threading fruit.
  4. Assemble the fruit skewers by threading a strawberry piece (red), followed by a honeydew melon cube (white), then a blueberry (blue). Repeat this pattern until the skewer is filled, usually 3-4 sets per stick. Leave a little space at the end for holding.
  5. Optional garnish: finely chop fresh mint leaves and sprinkle lightly over the skewers or tuck whole leaves between fruit pieces.
  6. Place the skewers on a platter and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes to let the flavors meld and keep the fruit crisp and cool.
  7. Serve fresh from the fridge or at room temperature. Consume within a day for best freshness.

Notes

Use firm, ripe strawberries and honeydew melon that is not too watery for best texture. Soak wooden skewers before use to prevent splintering. Chill skewers before serving for best flavor and texture. Consume within 24 hours for freshness. Optional variations include substituting cantaloupe or apple for honeydew melon, or blackberries for blueberries. A light squeeze of fresh lime juice before serving can brighten flavors.
