Description
A festive and easy recipe for layered red, white, and blue jello shots with vodka, perfect for celebrations like Independence Day or parties. Each layer sets perfectly to create a vibrant flag effect with a smooth, boozy kick.
Ingredients
- 1 packet red flavored gelatin (cherry, strawberry, or raspberry)
- 1 packet unflavored gelatin
- 1 packet blue flavored gelatin (blueberry or blue raspberry)
- 3 cups boiling water (1 cup per gelatin packet)
- 3/4 cup vodka (1/4 cup per layer)
- 1 cup cold water (1/2 cup for red layer, 1/4 cup for white layer, 1/2 cup for blue layer)
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk (for white layer) or full-fat coconut milk for dairy-free option
- Optional: fresh fruit or zest (lemon zest, fresh berries) for flavor and garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the red layer: Pour 1 cup boiling water over one packet of red flavored gelatin. Stir until dissolved. Add 1/4 cup vodka and 1/2 cup cold water. Mix well. Pour about 1 tablespoon into each shot cup. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes until firm but slightly tacky.
- Prepare the white layer: Sprinkle one packet of unflavored gelatin over 1/4 cup cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes. Heat 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk gently (do not boil). Add bloomed gelatin to warm milk and stir until dissolved. Mix in 1/4 cup vodka. Once red layer is tacky, spoon about 1 tablespoon of white mixture over it. Refrigerate for 30 minutes until set but tacky.
- Prepare the blue layer: Repeat the red layer process with one packet of blue flavored gelatin, 1 cup boiling water, 1/4 cup vodka, and 1/2 cup cold water. Once white layer is tacky, pour blue layer carefully over it. Chill for at least 2 hours until fully firm.
- Final touches: Once all layers are firm, garnish with a tiny flag toothpick or a small fresh blueberry on top for a festive look.
Notes
Pour layers slowly using the back of a spoon to avoid mixing colors. Wait until each layer is tacky but not fully firm before adding the next. Keep gelatin mixtures warm but not hot to prevent melting previous layers. Use sugar-free gelatin and flavored seltzers for lower sugar and carb versions. Store in fridge up to 3 days; avoid freezing.
