Description

This rich and indulgent salted caramel dessert is easy to make and perfect for festive gatherings, offering a balance of sweet and salty flavors that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened and cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • Optional toppings: chocolate shavings, whipped cream, chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup (120 g) of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup (100 g) of brown sugar, and 1/2 cup (115 g) of softened butter. Mix until crumbly and press into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup (200 g) of granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once melted and amber-colored, add 1/2 cup (115 g) of unsalted butter, stirring until fully incorporated.
  3. Slowly pour in 1/2 cup (120 ml) of heavy cream, whisking continuously. Add 1 teaspoon of sea salt and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Cook for 2–3 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Pour the caramel over the baked crust, spreading evenly. Allow it to set for 10–15 minutes before adding optional toppings.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until firm. Slice into squares and enjoy!

Notes

[‘Use room temperature ingredients to prevent caramel from seizing.’, ‘Keep the heat medium and stir continuously to avoid burning the sugar.’, ‘Let the crust cool before pouring the caramel layer.’, ‘Refrigerate the dessert to ensure the layers set perfectly.’, ‘Experiment with toppings like flaky sea salt or melted chocolate for added flair.’]
