Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour (about 30 grams or 1/4 cup)
- 1/8 teaspoon baking powder (a small pinch)
- 1/16 teaspoon baking soda (just a tiny pinch)
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons milk (45 ml or 1.5 fl oz), any kind
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons pizza sauce
- 3 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese (about 30 grams or 1 oz)
- Optional: mini pepperoni slices, chopped olives, or diced bell peppers
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe mug, combine 4 tablespoons (about 1/4 cup) of all-purpose flour, 1/8 teaspoon baking powder, 1/16 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Stir well to evenly distribute the leavening agents.
- Add 3 tablespoons (1.5 fl oz) of milk and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the mug. Stir gently until a thick batter forms, similar to pancake batter consistency. Adjust flour or milk slightly if needed.
- Spoon 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce evenly over the batter without mixing it in.
- Sprinkle 3 tablespoons (about 1 oz) of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the sauce. Add any optional toppings like pepperoni or veggies now.
- Microwave on high for 60 to 90 seconds. Start with 60 seconds and check; the cheese should be melted and bubbly, and the dough set but soft. Microwave in 10-second bursts if more time is needed.
- Let the mug pizza cool for 1-2 minutes before eating. The edges will be slightly crisp, and the center tender and cheesy.
Notes
Use a mug at least 12 oz to prevent overflow. Stir batter just enough to combine to keep crust tender. Freshly shredded mozzarella melts better than pre-shredded. Cooking times vary by microwave wattage; start with 60 seconds and add time in 10-second increments if needed. For a crisper top, broil for 30 seconds after microwaving, watching closely to avoid burning.
